Wild Wind

Wild Wind,
Guardian of places still pure,
You howl so, through these lonely streets
In this place that pretends to live
Without knowing what living is.

Wild wind,
Lamenting what man has done to your home,
Don't despair.
One set of feet
Pause in their daily shuffle;
One set of eyes
Peerinto your fierceness;
One set of ears
Listen to your cry.

How I love the stories you bring,
Messenger from the wild places,
To the places still wild in my heart.
I have used your wings, wild wind,
In the world of my mind's eye...
I fly over sweeping plains
Untroubled by man's destruction;
Wander through steamy rainforests
Untouched by man's greed;
Caress the limbs of ancient trees
Uncut by man's endless need.
I rile the ocean into furious foam,
I shape the sand into timeless forms,
And I sleep beside the resting sun,
And wake to hail the coming dawn.

Your journies have not been in vain, wild wind.
Your eyes have shown me where beauty lies,
Your wings have borne me over an expanse of time,
And your voice...
Your voice has told me of love, my friend;
True love as only Nature knows.
Your voice has lit my spirit's fire
And taught me the meaning of desire...
A child of the earth is brave, wild wind,
And would lay down her life for love...
Lay down her life for love.
