North Sky Dancers

One clear night in the northern fields,
With no one around for miles,
I lay on my back and watched the sky,
Willing to wait awhile.
The dome above was set with stars
And rimmed by shadowed pine
That complemented nature's peace
And contributed to mine.
With every heartbeat I fell deeper
Into the silence of my soul.
Soon the worlds began to blur
And time had lost his hold.

As I lay on the earth
In this new timeless world,
The flow of nature changed.
I closed my eyes, and when I looked again,
The angels had rearranged!
Lights were dancing in the sky,
And I knew that God was not a lie.
Shifting bands of amythest and blue
Flowed across the stars,
And rivers deep of ruby and pearl
Danced over the world,
All glittering in the half-light
Of that magical night.
