Far From You
It's been hours since the stars
Began their dance across the sky
And darkness found the corners
Where it settled down to lie.
My body begs for time away
From its troubles and its cares,
And my eyes would like a brief respite
From the burden of their sight.
But here I sit, in a puddle of light
With no desire to sleep tonight
For although my nest is safe and warm
And my dreams are full of light,
When I awake, I will not find
Your arms around me tight.
