First Real Snow
I need to pee, but my roommate is throwing up in the toilet. The smell is drifting out into the room.
It’s Halloween night and it’s snowing outside – great big beautiful white flakes that are coating the landscape in silence. It’s the first real snow we’ve had – and like Dave said, it’s magical.
As soon as I noticed it snowing, I grabbed my snowpants and ran outside giggling to sit for awhile and feel the magic. After I went back inside, I decided to get my sleeping gear and go sleep in Andrew’s yard (extra credit in RE 155 and just plain fun!) The roads were all right; it wasn’t snowing in Negaunee. But it started later! I woke up after awhile and my sleeping bag was completely covered with snow. I shook it off my hat and went back to sleep. I woke up again soon though, getting colder. Finally I got up and went back home – my sleeping bag is rated for 20 degrees and I’m pretty sure it’s that or colder. But it was still wonderful. I can’t imagine being drunk right now like so many other people – what a waste of a beautiful night.
